In this course, José Luis Ceña will teach us how to make a portrait from beginning to end using measured and systematic procedures in which both the formal aspects and the approach to the model’s psychology take on great importance.

Ceña will bring us closer to techniques that allow us to create our own plastic language by incorporating tools other than painting and a palette of vibrant colors that provide a special plasticity to the work.

Purpose of the courses

During this course, you will learn how to make a portrait with mixed techniques using traditional painting tools and others not so much. This process will take place from start to finish. For more than 3 hours of the course you will be able to contemplate an explanation and breakdown of the entire process in simple steps that will allow you to apply these procedures after your own work.

Who these are for?

This course is aimed at painters, amateurs or professionals who want to know techniques, resources and procedures to learn, improve or develop their talent in painting procedures, especially portraiture.

Requirements

Personal computer or tablet to view the videos. It is also possible to use a smartphone, although we recommend larger screen sizes to better appreciate details. On the other hand, everyone will be able to make use of the preferred painting material to carry out the practices, although we recommend linen on board as a support, as well as acrylics and oil for painting. José Luis Ceña will also show how to incorporate other tools other than traditional painting that will add a greater visual richness to the work.

José Luis Ceña

Plastic artist (Málaga, 1982)

José Luis Ceña Ruiz graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, the city in which he currently resides.

he Later he continued his artistic studies thanks to a scholarship from the Casa de la Moneda specializing in Engraving and Graphic Design. This training has allowed her to incorporate certain aspects of his pictorial work into his pictorial work thanks to the use of tools other than traditional painting. These aspects give his work a very personal imprint, together with the vibrant and courageous use of colors that he incorporates into his palette.

His career is full of awards such as an Honorable Mention in the II Modportrait International Portrait Contest or the Honorable Mention in the Buen Retiro Park Painting Contest or the first prize in the Sigüenza National Painting Contest.
