Cesc Farré is an architect and graphic artist specialized in the watercolour technique. In this course, the author and teacher from Barcelona shows all his experience and expertise to teach us everything necessary to create an cityscape, creating the necessary environment and space. He does so by emphasizing the importance of fundamental aspects such as proportions, perspective, light, color and the nature of the materials that are represented.

Cesc will dedicate the first videos to explain all these concepts in a theoretical way , which will undoubtedly help us face our works with greater security and rigor.

During almost 4 hours of Cesc Farré’s teachings we will be able to learn:

  • The importance of paper and its format.
  • Color theory and color palette.
  • Material representation models.
  • The proportion of buildings, objects and people.
  • Point of view and perspective.
  • The right color temperatures.
  • Water as a fundamental element in technique. How to play with different degrees of humidity.

Purpose of the courses

During this course, you will learn how to make your own work using watercolor techniques. Cesc Farré will carry out two works to explain different procedures of this technique. These processes will be carried out from start to finish. During almost 4 hours of the course, you will be able to contemplate two demonstrations of Farré, as well as an explanation and breakdown of his entire process in simple steps that will allow you to apply these procedures after your own work.

Once the entire process is finished, you will be able to bring a greater wealth of attitude to your work.

Who these are for?

This course is aimed at graphic artists, painters, hobbyists or professionals who want to know techniques, resources and procedures to learn, improve or develop their talent in the use of watercolour.

About the artist

Cesc Farré

Cesc Farré

Terrassa 1972, Barcelona, Spain

Architect by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC, Spain). His artistic training, especially the watercolor technique, has been closely related to the graphic expression and illustration of architectural heritage.

Currently, he combines teaching watercolor at school with master classes and workshops around the world with research.

He is part of the group of watercolors of Catalonia, SDWS and is an international art jury.

It is considered Mediterranean. This fact is naturally reflected in the light and color of his watercolors, but also in the contrast and structured gesture with the drawing and composition. He uses the white of the sheet a lot in his proposals and usually mixes colors directly on the paper to give maximum transparency and brightness. Works with natural hair brushes on fine-grained cotton paper with high-quality pigments.

Its methodology is based on a specific study of what it represents, sketches "in situ" and outdoors and an additional study based on all the material. He is passionate about nature, so he can define me as a landscaper, a subject in which he has specialized for a few years.

He is especially inspired by water and its states, especially in the seascape.
